Founders of Luna Botanicals
Stephen and Jeanne Luna are a married couple living, designing and enjoying life in New Orleans. Both named to Gambit New Orleans’ 40 under 40 list in 2018, the duo behind Luna Botanicals is inspired to grow a greener future.
The couples' genuine and deep love for New Orleans drives much of the inspiration of the Luna Botanicals art collection, as well as the wild and dramatic Luna commercial and residential designs populating New Orleans and beyond.
Both Louisiana natives, Stephen has a degree in Landscape Architecture from LSU and is seeking licensure in Winter 2018. Jeanne has a business degree and a professional background in brand development and marketing.
The two combine their unique skillsets to create instant-impact, bold designs that garner attention and connect people with nature.
Luna Botanicals came to fruition through a shared respect for the healing and meditative power of nature, and a passion for incorporating that serenity into everyday life. Immersion in nature is not only a focal point of Luna designs, but it is key to the continued inspiration and growth of the Luna lifestyle.
Through interactive planting workshops, plant design and care talks, botanical artwork, event styling, commercial and residential design, we hope to inspire others to live a green, healthy and mindful lifestyle through artful plant curation, crafting and growth.
Luna Botanicals strives to cultivate a plant collection and community that breathes life and tranquility into both interior and exterior spaces alike through thriving specimen plants that anyone can find joy in nurturing.
Luna Love Story
On a warm New Orleans September night, wine, laughter and music floated and flowed through a relaxed outdoor garden. The romance of Bacchanal set the tone as Jeanne and Stephen gravitated towards one another. They quickly fell in love in New Orleans, a fiddle leaf fig tree was given as the first birthday gift, and the rest is history…
The couple eloped in the Redwood Forest with a honeymoon road trip exploring nature, national parks, succulent farms and stylish plant stores along the coast of California. Since that inspiring trip, Stephen and Jeanne have travelled the world in search of the most beautiful and inspiring expressions of Mother Nature and humans alike. Together, they combine their professional experience, travels, and personal passion for nature to design, plant and grow.
Bella Luna + Pearl Luna
Dog + VW Van
Seeking genuine adventure, with some definite inspiration from the minimalist movement, Jeanne and Stephen downsized their lives considerably with the the plan of living the 'van life' for a year. Pearl, a 1973 Volkswagon Bus was one of the first vessels for adventure found, and they immediately knew she was the one. A quick trip to Houston and Pearl was theirs! ...one hour into the trip home, Pearl broke down.
Luckily, a kind tow truck driver invited the couple home for dinner while waiting to be towed back to New Orleans. The young family cooked and entertained the Lunas for hours with the kindest and warmest hospitality. This was the beginning of a wild adventure.
After months of fixing the van, Steve and Jeanne set out on a preliminary trip to Colorado to research how travel indefinitely with their beloved dog, Bella Luna. While in the mountains, they received the news that Bella had been paralyzed in an accident and couldn't move her back two legs.
Rushing back to Louisiana, the two put a hold on the van life travel plans, set up shop on Esplanade Avenue, and started focusing on Bella's recovery. The Luna plant-filled studio was the healing epicenter for a year of acupuncture, daily walks and Bayou St. John swims that have proven to be healing for Bella; a little over a year later, she can walk and run again!
During this recovery time, Pearl Luna morphed into the Luna plant van, popping up as a plant event host around New Orleans, as Bella became the Luna plant pup. Today, Pearl runs great, as does Bella, and the whole Luna Botanicals team works together to seek inspiration through travel, botanical events and immersion in nature.
